A barn owl watches
my clumsy dancing. You write
poetry out loud.
My spare change clinks in
your cup. Spent green eyes brighten.
I see your love song.
three untethered trees,
red with mourning. stained glass eyes
watch. my heart rises.
roll along, steady.
sapphires see everything,
teach us how to love.
my grandmother’s rug
rests, worn and unraveling,
over my body
Climb. Fall. Cry. Dance. Laugh.
Share. Teach. Guide. Pray. Hold. Listen.
Grieve. Love. Start to climb.
Wild sage growing
in the ruins of a church.
A hand-built stone bridge.
Blue norther passes,
shakes the heavy, hand-carved door
whistles across glass
I make your words new.
Coffee makes people human.
Make. Remake. Repeat.
A funny story
told amongst friends brings about
the strongest laughter.
Blush shades, uncovered.
Day enters night on cloud sheets,
resting in her warmth.
a few more seconds
green switches yellow to red
Stolen Memories
Little voices rise,
exploring music’s magic.
Slow roll river boat.
I am a mountain.
Weather rises over me,
thunder on the plains.
chestnut petals crushed
beneath stubborn hooves. warm breath
roars across cold night.
river water runs
down down down toward the sea
just to run to run
The earth’s naked lungs
reach to the sun. Cut them down,
we all stop breathing.
Two crows flew past me
You woke with a deer on you
Animals teach love.
Tea leaves deliver
andante afterlife notes
to a dying tongue
Wet, red muscle bag
folds in toward oxygen.
Resurfaces. Spent.
